Sound is creation — the universe is sound.

Sound Healing was used by many ancient cultures. To name a few, the ancient Greeks were using the flute and lyre, Native Americans have been using shamanic drums and songs, Aborigines of Australia have been playing the didgeridoo and Hindus of India have been chanting Sanskrit mantras to restore balance, harmony and health within people, communities and nature. Healing with sound has been rediscovered in the last century. As an example, Music Therapy was offered for wounded soldiers and Ultrasound was successfully introduced into Western Medicine e.g. to dissolve kidney stones, reduce tumors and evaluate the condition of internal organs and soft tissues.

Sound is known as one of the most natural forms of healing known to mankind. Some cultures have long realised that the beneficial effects of sound go much deeper than just relaxation. Sound healing touches us on many different levels: physical, energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual. Many people still think that Sound Healing is just another New Age healing modality, when instead it has a long history in humanity. Sound Healing as a form of therapy has received a constant revival since the last decades, gaining more and more acknowledgement from scientists and popularity among people from all ages and backgrounds.

Ancient people already knew that everything is vibration. Albert Einstein found this to be true as he once stated: “Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.” Since the rise of Quantum Physics that aims to explain the model of reality and existence from the micro- to the macrocosm, we experience a huge paradigm shift. The previous split of spirituality and science, the disconnection of body and mind seems to slowly disintegrate, to be replaced with not only the belief, but with scientific evidence that everything and everyone is interconnected in a sea of vibration. Anyone who is familiar with musical science knows that every disharmony strives to dissolve into harmony.

Sound Healing is the specific use of frequencies to promote healing and balance. It addresses various planes of our existence, from the physical to the emotional and spiritual level by using different instruments and the voice. In a way, it helps us to be more in tune with the ourselves and in sync with the natural laws, structure and order of the cosmos. Our bodies have a natural inclination to heal themselves, to recreate order, balance and harmony. It seeks homeostasis and wants to be in tune, but many factors can hinder this natural process such as pollutants and toxins, lifestyle, diet, lack of movement or mind state. Sound affects us on so many different levels, from the cellular function to the tissues, hormones, brain waves and the flow of energy in our body. It does not only work within the body, but also on the aura, the bioelectrical field around the body which can be harmonized with sound. Sound can trigger bodily responses by changing brain chemicals, e.g. to alter our heart rate, blood pressure, emotional state or muscle tension.

Effects of Sound Healing include:

  • stress reduction

  • emotional balance

  • lowered blood pressure

  • soothing nervous system

  • improved sleep

  • muscle relaxation

  • more coherence in the brain waves

  • deepening meditative states, calming the mind

  • pain relief

  • inducing higher states of consciousness

What is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Vibroacoustic Sound Therapy (VAT) is a science-based treatment that uses mild vibrations and soothing music to align the body and mind with healthy cellular behaviour. Vibroacoustics is a term referring to technology that translates sound you can hear into sound you can feel. This sensation is achieved using vibro-tactile transducers incorporated into a massage table. The vibrations from the music permeate throughout the body to a cellular level. What that means is you can become one with the music, as the vibrations are translated by the brain as sound and not shaking; so the body receives an external and internal massage; organs in the body which we cannot reach by traditional methods — nerves, glands, lungs, heart, deep-lying blood vessels, and brain tissue — will respond when being exposed to sound vibration.

When your cells are vibrating within what is considered to be the healthy range (about 30 – 120 Hz), you will feel well and resilient to emotional and physical triggers. When your cells are vibrating outside of the healthy range, you can experience negative symptoms — anything from mild hunger to chronic pain. Daily stress makes our cells acidic, and we tend not to fill the cells up to an optimal oxygen level. These traces of stress are stored as waste products in cells and blood vessels which may, in time, lead to serious consequences for our health. Low frequency sound vibrations through VAT may contribute to clean the cells, increase oxygenation and reduce acidation. Feeding off the frequency, the cells in your body begin to respond and copy the vibrations that the body feels. By doing this, the cells are brought back to a natural state —resulting in a healthy resonant response.

VAT can be a wonderful way to destress and quickly restore balance and puts you in a parasympathetic nervous state within minutes. For instance, new moms struggle with various physical and emotional challenges after giving birth. It takes a while to feel like yourself again and VAT is a terrific way to de-stress and begin to heal. VAT is a non-invasive method of settling emotional imbalances, improving sleep and soothing aches and pains.

National Institute of Health has been reporting on the efficacy of using Vibroacoustics for physical and emotional challenges for over 30 years.

VAT has been studied by the National Institute of Health and is shown to have had beneficial effects on a variety of health conditions, including:

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  •  COPD

  • Asthma

  • PTSD

  • Autism,

  • ADHD and ADD

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Migraines

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Pain Disorders in general

Research-backed benefits of VAT include:

  • symptom reduction

  • pain management

  • stress alleviation

  • improved sleep

  • removal of cellular waste

  • increased circulation

  • lower blood pressure

  • enhanced metabolism,

  • hormonal balance

  • release of muscle tension

  • deep relaxation

  • meditative experiences and more
